Maggie's Brownies
This is a recipe I have had since I was a teenager.
I used to make it for my friends when they came over to my house.
Ingredients
5 squares unsweetened chocolate
1 stick butter
3 eggs
1 cup packed brown sugar
1 cup sugar
1/8 teaspoon salt
2 teaspoons vanilla
1 cup self-rising flour
1 cup chopped walnuts
Procedure
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Melt butter with chocolate in microwave or on the stove in a saucepan. Mix together eggs, brown sugar, granulated sugar, salt and vanilla. Add melted butter and chocolate. When mixed, add flour. (If you do not have self-rising flour, use regular flour and add one teaspoon baking powder and ½ teaspoon baking soda.). Add walnuts. Pour batter into greased 8 x 12 (or similar size) baking pan. Bake for approximately 30 minutes. Do not overbake. Brownies should be soft and chewy.
Serve warm with a scoop of ice cream
